Press and hold the Power button (it should be the very top-right button on your keyboard for most models) for 3 seconds and it’ll force shut down. After it’s completely off, simply just press it again to turn it back on and go from there. It should fix your frozen or unresponsive Chromebook.
How to Force Quit on a Chromebook Open Chrome. Click the menu button, the stack of three dots. Select More Tools in the menu. Click Task Manager. Select the process or program that you wish to force quit and click End Process on the bottom right of the screen.
If a specific tab in your browser causes your Chromebook to crash or freeze, hard refresh the page: Ctrl + Shift + r. If you’ve installed any new apps or extensions recently, uninstall them. Reset your Chromebook.
Factory reset your Chromebook Sign out of your Chromebook. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r. Select Restart. In the box that appears, select Powerwash. Continue. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account. Once you’ve reset your Chromebook:
The first thing to check for when your Chromebook won’t turn on is a dead battery. Plug the unit in via AC charger and let it charge for at least 30 min to an hour and try turning it on again. A ” blank screen ” is when the light on the power button is on, but the screen remains black.

There is such a keyboard shortcut, and it’s quite simple. When something is amiss on your Chromebook and you need to force quit an app, hit Shift-Escape. This keyboard shortcut calls up Chrome’s Task Manager.
2. Shift + Escape. This is the Chrome OS equivalent of Windows’ Ctrl – Alt – Delete. Shift-Esc calls up Chrome’s Task Manager where you can see which apps are using the most system resources and force quit an unresponsive app.
To do this: Turn the Chromebook off, hold down the Refresh button (circular arrow at top of the keyboard) and the Power button simultaneously for about 5 seconds. Release the buttons and the computer should restart.
If Ctrl + Alt + Delete doesn’t work, then your computer is truly locked up, and the only way to get it moving again is a hard reset. Press and hold down on the power button until your computer turns off, then press the power button again to boot back up from scratch.
Press and hold the “Ctrl”, “Alt” and “Del” buttons in that order. This may unfreeze the computer, or bring up an option to restart, shut down or open the task manager.
And as a Guest, the powerwash option isn’t available; rightly so. It turns out, you can still wipe the Chromebook clean with a keycode combination. At the first login screen, simply press Alt+Ctrl+Shift+R and tap the Restart button.
No image or blank screen on your Samsung Chromebook Check the AC adapter. Plug in the AC adapter while the Chromebook is still powered on. Restart the Chromebook. Press and hold the Power key until the power light shuts off, and then press the Power key again to turn it back on. Perform a recovery. If the display still appears blank, perform a system recovery.
