All about the ancient tribes
Why is the basketball game called HORSE? The most likely explanation seems to be that players deemed five shots the ideal game time and picked a five-letter word known by people of all ages that just happened to be horse. In another universe, Trae Young and Chris Paul will be playing TAXES this weekend.
H-O-R-S-E is a game played by two people on a basketball court. The idea of the game involves matching baskets. The player who makes shots that the opponent does not duplicate, wins the game. Example: The second person shooting must duplicate the first person’s shot, if it is made.
Missing Shots
Any players who miss a shot that must be matched earn the letter “P.” Players who have already earned the first letter and miss a matched shot again earn the letter “I” and so on until a player accumulates all the letters in the word “Pig” and are thus eliminated.
In the game of basketball, points are scored anytime a player puts the ball through the basket. This can be done with the a variety of shots – layups, slam dunks, jump shots, free throws, 3-pointers and more.
If you’re playing basketball, forget the swish and go for the bank. Science has proven it’s a better shot, at least from close range. That’s because the backboard substantially increases your odds of hitting the target.
Choose a player to go first, then play proceeds clockwise. On your turn, roll both pigs simultaneously. Based on how the pigs land you collect points. You may then decide to stop and score those points or roll again.
A layup is a shot near the basket, usually off the backboard. For a layup, you run towards one side of the basket, jump, and lay the ball off the backboard into the hoop.
The first player shoots from the first spot. If s/he makes the basket, s/he advances and shoots from the next spot. The same player continues around the markers until a basket is missed. After this player misses, s/he rebounds the ball, passes it to the next player in line, and goes to the end of the line.
To start, everyone faces the basket in a single line, one behind the other. The first player in line shoots the ball. If they make it, they go to the back of the line. If they miss, they have to get their own rebound and put the ball in the basket before the person who was behind them makes their shot.
Dealer gives one card at a time face down, beginning with the player on the left. When two people play, each person gets 10 cards. When three or four people play, each receives seven cards; when five or six play, each receives six cards. The remaining cards are placed face down on the table, forming the stock.
Points in basketball are used to keep track of the score in a game. Points can be accumulated by making field goals (two or three points) or free throws (one point). … If the player makes a field goal from beyond the three-point line, the player scores three points.
A basketball team can have a lot of players, but only five can play in a game at any one time. Players in a basketball game have assigned basketball positions: center, power forward, small forward, point guard, and shooting guard.
