Steps to Use a Name Tag
You can name a horse
Once you have one, use it on an anvil and then type a new name into the slot that says “Name Tag”. Then tap on the new name tag on the right to add it to your inventory. You’ll need one XP point.
Get a name tag, put a name on it in the anvil, then go up to the mob and a ‘name’ button should appear.
To name a mob “Name Tag” the player must give the name tag a random name, then rename it back to “Name Tag”. A villager with a name tag turned into a zombie by a zombie with a name tag does not despawn, but a villager with a name tag turned into a zombie by a zombie without a name tag does despawn.
Name tags are items that can be used to name mobs by right-clicking on them. Name tags are not craftable, so the only way to legitimately obtain them in Survival is to find them inside of dungeon chests or strongholds, through trading, or by fishing.
Now that you have tamed and put a saddle on a horse, you can ride it and control its movements. The game control to mount the horse depends on the version of Minecraft: For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the horse. For Pocket Edition (PE), you move your pointer over the horse and press the Mount button.
You can summon a wolf that is already tamed, wearing a collar, and ready to be your companion whenever you want using a cheat (game command) in Minecraft. This is done using the /summon command.
How to Choose Your Pet’s Name
Originally, name tags were only found in the occasional dungeon chest, but now you can find them in abandoned mineshafts and woodland mansions. There’s also a small chance to get them while fishing, and librarian villagers will trade them for a whopping 20-22 emeralds.
