Red Dead Redemption 2: How to Brake & Slow Down on Horse
Similarly to Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode, you can “break” wild horses, or steal owned horses, and you can ride with them. However, unlike Story Mode, you can’t saddle or store wild horses and stolen horses in Red Dead Online, and you can’t bond with them.
Just keep chasing them until they get a little tired or back themselves into a corner. Once you’ve got the horse on the rope, you can then press X to calm them as you slowly approach. Once you get near enough to the horse you can mount them by pressing the Y button.
Leave the area for a few days & it will respawn.
This horse is tricky to tame, so it may need to be followed until it is calm enough for you to approach it. Once found, hold down LT/L2 and approach the horse very slowly. There is a bar in the bottom right corner – if this begins to deplete, quickly tap X/square to calm the horse down.
Once you remove the saddle from any horse and put it on the new one, that “main/original” horse becomes a temporary horse and will go away permanently over time. If you still want to keep that “main/original” horse then it’s best to have it follow you (or ride it) to the stable for safe keeping.
The bathroom in Beecher’s Hope will allow you to change clothes and shave. There is a campfire that you can craft and rest at. Your horses will also rest at this stable and can be accessed from this part of the ranch.
Selling horses this way won’t make you much money, though, since wild horses don’t have ownership papers. Stolen horses work much the same way if you ride them into a stable, but you can’t swap the saddles yourself.
Dude you aren’t supposed to lasso the white Arabian. You’re supposed to crouch and slowly approach it, press L2 and call out to it. Keep L2 pressed, continue moving slowly over. Watch the meter on the bottom right, once it drops press square to calm it.

No. You lose any horses Arthur had at the end of Chapter 6, even those stored in the stable. It may be possible to re-tame the white Arabian with John (I’ve heard that it respawns in the epilogue, but I’ve never tried it, myself).
