Single pony (9.3hh) can pull two adults (9.5 stone and 14.5 stone) with same vehicle round the lanes at trot for 14 miles or more easily without a break. Pair of ponies (9.3hh) can pull the two 9.5 stone adults for 25 miles all at trot with only one half-hour break.
Minis are one of the strongest horse breeds (relative to their size). They were small enough to be used in mines and easy to care for. Plus they could pull very heavy loads! A Mini can pull 3 to 4 times their wieght where a draft horse can usually pull 2 to 2.5 times their wieght.

No you cannot. They may look small but they require a lot of space. You would require about 2 acres to keep a couple of miniature Shetlands. They would also ruin your lawn in a very short space of time!
Opinions differ, but approximately 8 by 8 feet to 10 by 10 feet is substantial enough for a miniature horse to move around comfortably but not too large to make them susceptible to drafts and cold in their individual stalls. The full height of a normal horse barn is also not required — 6 feet is a sufficient height.
Although mini horses are herd animals and most of the time will enjoy a companion they can survive and thrive alone with taking additional steps.
