Books in the General Collection can be borrowed for 20 weeks. The number of renewals is unlimited, so you can keep the book as long as you need it, or until it is recalled to the Library by another borrower. Your loan quota (i.e. the number of items you can borrow ) depends on the type of users you are.
Circulating books are the most common — these books may leave the library and be checked out for up to three (3) weeks. They may also be renewed twice for three (3) weeks each, as long as no one else is waiting for the book. This means that, in total, a book could be checked out for up to nine (9) weeks.
Most modern libraries will have two options: either take your books right to the desk for the librarian to check out, or take them to the nearby self- checkout machine. To have the librarian check out your books: When it’s your turn, go up to the desk and place your books and your card on the desk.

How long do libraries hold books? A hold, or reserved, item remains on the hold shelf for 7 days before it is returned to the circulating collection.

What happens if you don’t pay library fines? Some libraries, if your fees are over a certain amount (usually $10 or $15) your card will be blocked. You ‘ll still have to pay an overdue fee, but it ‘ll be much cheaper than the cost of the book.
Depends on the library. If you ‘re just not getting around to it, you ‘ll likely be sent reminder letters and your fines will grow (the sum depends on the library ). If the reminders don’t get you to return them, you ‘ll be billed. If the bill doesn’t get paid, sometimes they ‘ll be transferred to a collection agency.
If you have lost a book or other library item, or if the item is damaged, the library will charge you the original retail price of the item. You will not be charged an overdue fine. A staff member can tell you how much the item costs. If this type of book is lost, you must pay the original retail price of the item.

Borrowing Kindle Books from your library Open your library’s digital collection (you can find it using www.overdrive.com). Find a Kindle Book to borrow. Select Borrow. Libby is great if you just want to download a book to your Android or iOS phone or tablet. OverDrive is the “classic” app, and is compatible with more devices, including Kindle Fire, Macs, PCs, and Windows mobile devices. It also allows for transfer to MP3 players from computers.
You can borrow titles from any library as long as you have a library card for it. Select a library from the list to visit their collection. To sign into a partner library, select your normal library from the drop-down on the sign-in page, then enter your normal library card and PIN ( if required).
