Heavyweight fleece is the least flexible of fleeces, but also the warmest and most insulating.
Sherpa is made from polyester fabric but has some stretch to it. It is not made from wool, although it has that look. Sherpa fleece has two sides — one is a smooth knit, the other is textured to look like fleece from sheep.

Comfort and Durability. While fleece is very soft and highly versatile, cotton is the better of the two. It wears much more comfortably and it is also quite soft.
Just by wearing and washing fleece, thousands and millions of these plastic fibers are shed and end up in the environment, including the air around us. More than one-third of the microplastics in the ocean come from synthetic clothing. Plastic microfibers have been found in food, water, and air.
Fleece. Certain lightweight wool fabrics, specifically labelled as ‘ summer wool’ might be okay in the hot weather, but fleece is derived from polyester so brings with it all of the summer cons which include trapping moisture and preventing ventilation. Let your pits breathe by avoiding fleece at all costs until winter.
Some of the disadvantages of the fabric include the fabric is highly flammable hence the need to treat it with flame retardant. Fleece made from non-renewable petroleum derivates cannot be recycled making it harmful to the environment. Regular fleece does not absorb moisture and is windproof.

Fleece vs Polyester for Warmth The naturally made fleece may not be warmer than polyester made fleece because polyester does not breathe as well. Thus a cotton or wool loose weave will be warmer than a polyester tight weave and vice versa.
