As many times as you would like, but what matters most is that you get baptized ONCE in the manner ordained by God and by one having authority from God.
The phrase ” baptized in the Holy Spirit ” occurs two times in Acts of the Apostles, first in Acts 1:4–5 and second in Acts 11:16.
Why can Baptism be received only once? Baptism imprints the soul with a permanent mark or character designating one as a follower of Christ. And it can only be applied once. For baptism, if a person already received the sacrament of Baptism, he/she cannot receive it again.
You cannot, in either Orthodox and Catholic theology, re- baptize anyone. Baptism is the one-off rite that makes you part of the Church. The Catholic Church teaches that the effects of baptism include: removes all sin. imparts new life by water and the Spirit. imparts an indelible mark. becoming a member of the Body of Christ, the Holy People of God. receives sanctifying grace, a share in the life of God.
When you put your faith in Jesus Christ and you are saved by his grace, your old self dies with Christ and you ‘re raised to new life with Christ. One of the reasons you should only be baptized once is because you are saved once and for all through the power of the gospel.
Baptism is just a public declaration of your acceptance of Jesus as your Lord and Savior. To add baptism, or any other work, to the gospel is to say that Jesus’ death on the cross was not sufficient to secure our salvation. “You can’t get into the kingdom of God if you are not baptized of water and the spirit.”
Acts 2:38 says, “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” This scripture encourages us that when we are baptized, we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit and he becomes part of us.
