It’s the star Sirius in the constellation Canis Major, brightest star in the sky. The bright planet Venus is also up before dawn now. But you’ll know Sirius, because Orion’s Belt always points to it.
Use it to locate a planet, the Moon, or the Sun and track their movements across the sky. Visible tonight, Feb 28 – Mar 1, 2021.
|Mercury:||From Mon 5:19 am|
|Mars:||Until Mon 12:23 am|

|Uranus:||Until Sun 10:32 pm|
Mars is the only bright planet to be out in the evening. Venus, Jupiter and Saturn hide in the glow of morning dawn, with Mercury joining these furtive worlds in the second half of February.
Murphy said his biggest piece of advice for anyone who wants to see the comet is to go outside about 45 minutes to an hour after sunset with a pair of binoculars and find a clear view of the northwest sky.
Venus rise and set in London Fairly close to the Sun. Visible around sunrise and sunset only.
How best we see Venus depends on its position relative to Earth and the Sun. Venus has an albedo of 0.7, which means that it reflects about 70 per cent of the sunlight that falls on it. So, that’s why Venus is shining so brightly at the moment, and it makes for wonderful viewing in the evening sky.
Mars, the red planet, is now a dazzling sight in the night sky. Go look at Mars tonight. A few hours after the Sun sets in the west, look to the east and you’ll see a big, bright “star” that’s unmistakably red.
Venus is visible in the night sky at the moment too – it is the brightest planet and easiest to spot. Venus appears at sunrise and sunset because it is closest to the Sun. Mercury should also be visible until early August, but this planet is slightly trickier to spot, because it is closer to the Sun than Venus.
These lights are actually satellites, launched into space by the U.S. company SpaceX, run by South African entrepreneur Elon Musk. And they’re a bit controversial. The satellites are part of something called Starlink.
Surface. From space, Venus is bright white because it is covered with clouds that reflect and scatter sunlight. At the surface, the rocks are different shades of grey, like rocks on Earth, but the thick atmosphere filters the sunlight so that everything would look orange if you were standing on Venus.
Mars will be at its brightest and best fiery red color. Now is a good time to start watching for Mars in the night sky. Mars will look like a bright red star, although it shines with a steadier light than the twinkling stars. Mars rises in the east at mid-to-late evening.
Venus is the brightest object in the sky except for the Sun and Moon. The planet is often called the “morning star ” or “evening star ” because it is visible at dawn and dusk.
Comet NEOWISE is right on the cusp of naked- eye visibility in the constellation of Coma Berenices. It can be found about the north-northwest horizon as soon as it gets dark—about 90 minutes after sunset. However, you can look late into the night; the comet will shift to the northern, then northeastern night sky.
Neowise is the first bright comet to be visible with the naked eye from the northern hemisphere since the mid-1990s. So comet Neowise will only be seen for a few weeks near Earth while it is near perihelion (its closest approach to the Sun).
Comet NEOWISE was closest to the sun on July 3, 2020, passing at about 26.7 million miles (43 million km) from the sun, or a bit closer than the average distance from the sun to Mercury.
