What to Wear Clothes that are well fitting and in good repair. A good pair of jeans, or better yet, khakis or dress pants. A good printed t-shirt, bowling shirt, polo/golf shirt, or best of all, a button down shirt. A jacket classes up any outfit. Try to be consistent with the people you are with.
Don a pair of dress pants and a collared shirt or sweater, or wear a dress or skirt ensemble. Anything that you would wear to religious services on a holiday is suitable to wear to the theater.
On evening performances (especially weekends) people generally wear smart casual even though there’s no dress code and jeans are pretty common. In the afternoon you’d feel positively overdressed in smart casual so jeans are ideal. You’ll be fine – GreenwichNick has it spot on.

Jeans, shorts and T-shirts are totally acceptable attire at most comedy clubs. If you prefer to be a little dressier or have dinner plans before or after the show, feel free to wear dress pants and a nice shirt or a dress.
Admission is free, so please invite your friends and family to be “your audience” 2 drink minimum is still enforced. There is no filming or flash photography inside the showroom.
Very few theatres operate a dress policy, and though traditionally evening performances are more formal than matinees, nobody will lambast you for wearing denim after 7pm.
Answer: There is no dress code for Broadway shows. Some people like to dress up and make a night of it, and some people will go in jeans. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that like movie theaters, Broadway shows can be very highly air conditioned in the summer, so bring a sweater.
Originally Answered: What time should I arrive at the theatre? We recommend patrons arrive at least 30 minutes before the show to avoid last-minute lines at the Box Office. Large groups should allow more time before the show to distribute tickets. We recommend an hour before the performance.
For men, khaki pants or dark jeans and a collared or golf shirt work perfectly for matinees. At night, dark jeans or slacks and a button-down shirt is appropriate with casual shoes like Clarks, not tennis shoes.
Wear clothes that you know are comfortable, look nice, and won’t distract you during your performance. Avoid loose, or flowing attire: Large collars, wide lapels, and billowing sleeves can get in the way of your playing your instrument. Don’t wear these type of items when dressing for a performance.
Formal dinner parties You’ll need to wear a tuxedo with a black bow tie, a white evening shirt, black socks (or bright red if you are a bit of a peacock) and well-polished black shoes.
The first ten improv rules are: Say “yes’and!” Add new information. Don’t block. Avoid asking questions- unless you’re also adding information. Play in the present and use the moment. Establish the location. Be specific and provide colorful details. Change, Change, Change!
Evening casual dress is considered “dressy,” but not formal. Evening casual is more relaxed and includes things like sports coats and cocktail dresses. To envision evening casual, think about what someone would wear for a nice dinner out. It is clean and sharp and considered dressy with an informal feel to it.
