All about the ancient tribes
“ Game of Thrones ” concluded in 2019 and speculation about successor series has been rife since the show’s conclusion. Several spinoff ideas were publicly floated and later discarded; as of December 2020, “House of the Dragon” is the only upcoming “ Game of Thrones ”-related series that has been officially confirmed.
It premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons.
The events of A Song of Ice and Fire begin. (The Prologue of A Game of Thrones takes place in 297 AC, and quite possibly the first few Daenerys chapters as well.) In the north, after thousands of years without encounter, the Others reappear in an attack on rangers from the Night’s Watch and a group of free folk.
The very first scene sets up the looming threat of the White Walkers, as three Night’s Watch rangers come face-to-face with the ancient, evil creatures. Two of the rangers are killed by the Walkers. The third, Will, escapes with his life and goes south, deserting The Wall.
‘Game of Thrones’: Arya Stark spinoff isn’t happening, HBO says.
Instead, they confirmed, Drogon took her to Volantis – the homeland of the Targaryens and the dragons they commanded. Samwell Tarly noted as much in the finale episode, revealing he saw Drogon flying in that direction.
The show’s episodes have won numerous awards including four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series. During the course of the series, 73 episodes of Game of Thrones aired over eight seasons, between April 17, 2011, and May 19, 2019.

Littlefinger gives Bran a Valyrian steel dagger (the one used by Bran’s would-be assassin in season one), which Bran passes to Arya. Meera leaves Winterfell to return to Greywater Watch; Bran’s indifference to her departure makes her realize that Bran ” died ” in the Three-Eyed Raven’s cave.
Maisie Williams was born on April 15th, 1997, and when she first began portraying Arya Stark, she was only 12 years old.
Winter in Westeros, like the other seasons, varies in length with every occurrence. It could last for a few months (short winters), and up to a few years ( long winters). The legendary period called the Long Night, when the Others first arrived supposedly happened during a winter that lasted a whole generation.
This is probably because, unlike The Lord of the Rings and other fantasy series set in a fictional lost age of our Earth, Westeros is located on a different planet entirely. Martin has previously described the planet itself while answering questions on an A Song of Ice and Fire fansite.
It’s surprising in some cases to see how few times they said them. Take “winter is coming” for example. The show just started its sixth season, and the phrase has been uttered 11 times — once each by Benjen, Arya, Maester Aemon, Robb, Yoren, Catelyn, Stark Soldier and Mance, and twice by Ned, Jon and Stannis.
Lord Eddard Stark. “Winter Is Coming” is the motto of House Stark, one of the Great Houses of Westeros. The meaning behind these words is one of warning and constant vigilance. The Starks, being the lords of the North, strive to always be prepared for the coming of winter, which hits their lands the hardest.
The series also features some of Hollywood’s biggest names, both as actors and writers. In the 21 hours it would take you to watch all five seasons, you could almost swim across the English Channel.
