Most people know what skateboarding is, but fewer people are aware of the skateboarding laws in their area or that they even exist. Because skateboarding is an inherently dangerous activity, laws exist to regulate, ban, or control skateboarding in certain locations and circumstances.
The use, ownership and sale of skateboards were forbidden in Norway from 1978 to 1989 because of the high number of injuries caused by boards. The ban led skateboarders to construct ramps in the forest and other secluded areas to avoid the police.

However, its recent spike in popularity has to do with the pandemic, skateboarding popularity skyrocketed the moment we went into lock-down. It’s a great time to be skating ( 2020 ), never have I personally experienced such recognition of the sport. Skateboarding is in ads, movies, app, games, it’s everywhere.
You’re never too old to learn skateboarding, at least when you’re still healthy and in reasonable physical shape. There is no age limit, whether you’re in your twenties, thirties, forties or even fifties. It might be a little embarrassing when you start skateboarding at your 30’s or 40’s but practice makes perfect.
Alan Gelfand created the first skateboarding trick in 1973. He called it the “Ollie,” and people everywhere were soon trying to copy it. Years later, Tony Hawk entered the first X Games and wowed the world. He was the first to do a “900” trick and won 70 competitions before retiring.

Every sport has certain elements that make them difficult to play at a high level. Skateboarding definitely takes a lot of skill, but I wouldn’t say it’s the hardest sport. Any team sport is harder than this as it requires strategy, individual skill, and team coordination.
