The ceremony was slated to return to a late February date this year. However, in June 2020, with no end to the pandemic in sight and theaters closed across the country, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took a gamble and postponed the 2021 ceremony, pushing it back two months, from February to April.
The 92nd Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Dolby® Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. “ Oscars: Live on the Red Carpet” will air at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
It’s official — the 2020 Academy Awards will have no host. The 2019 Oscars went host -less by necessity, not by design, when Kevin Hart withdrew two days after being named to the job over controversial decade-old tweets, and efforts to get him back failed.
In 2019, the show ran without a host after Kevin Hart stepped down from the job after some old homophobic tweets of his resurfaced. The show hadn’t been without a host since 1989.
And that’s all due to Aniston not attending the ceremony. The Morning Show actress has no reason to: She isn’t nominated for any projects (the Academy Awards just recognizes achievement in film, not television), and she wasn’t tapped to present at the ceremony.
Janelle Monáe opened Oscars 2020 with a tribute to the legendary Mister Rogers singing “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” from the iconic TV series.

Next year’s Oscars ceremony has been pushed back by two months, the latest big celebrity event to have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The Academy Awards were due to take place on 28 February next year but have now been put back until 25 April.
