Lean to the left and rest your head on the window. Adjust the driver’s side view mirror so only a sliver of your car’s side is visible from this position. Lean to the right toward the center console and set the passenger’s side view mirror so you can barely see the side of your car from this position.
Side and rear view mirrors should be adjusted so that they provide a clear line of sight to the rear and sides of a vehicle, which allows drivers to parallel park, back into a space, and exit a parking space.
How To Get Rid of Your Blind Spot Adjust the rear-view mirror so that it best covers your view straight out the rear window. Set your side mirrors out fifteen degrees on either side. Lean your head over to the center of the car and adjust the right side mirror so that you can barely see the side of your car from this position.
When adjusting your right, driver side mirror, you should make sure the horizon is in the centre of the mirror. The horizon is the furthest point you can see, at which the road behind you disappears.
To adjust the driver’s side -view mirror, place your head against the left side window and set the mirror so you can just barely see the side of the car in the mirror’s right side. To adjust the passenger’s side -view mirror, position your head so that it is just above the center console.
The rear-view mirror’s role is to ensure your safety on the road and the safety of other drivers as well. While driving, it’s important to quickly check all mirrors before making any sudden stops, switching lanes, turning, or accelerating.
A side – view mirror (or side mirror ), also known as a wing mirror, is a mirror placed on the exterior of motor vehicles for the purposes of helping the driver see areas behind and to the sides of the vehicle, outside the driver’s peripheral vision (in the “blind spot”).
Position your wing mirrors using the off-side rule to reduce blind spots and accidents. Position the wing mirror so you can just see the side of your car. Then, move your head to the centre of the car, in line with the rear view mirror, and make the same adjustment to the other wing mirror.
Blind spot mirrors are a very affordable, cost-efficient way to improve driver safety by allowing you to see what’s in your blind spot without turning your head. While some vehicles do have blind spot mirrors integrated with their factory side mirrors, most vehicles do not.
The best position for a blind spot mirror is the outermost edge of your driver’s side mirror. Although many individuals prefer placing a mirror in the top outer corner, it can also be placed in the bottom outer corner.
Some ways to eliminate blind spots and increase your visibility include: Adjusting mirrors so that the rear window is framed. Sit in your vehicle and place your head against the window, adjust the left side mirror so that only a part of the vehicles left side is visible.
Look in your mirror every time you stop or start, pass a car, turn, merge, switch lanes, pull over. Check your rearview mirror every 5-8 seconds. Use your mirrors more often in irregular and high-traffic situations. The mirrors will help you navigate a difficult driving situation.
You should see part of the trailer on the inside vertical edge of the mirror. The top, horizontal edge of the mirror should show a point on the ground that is about 65 feet away. The bottom, horizontal edge of the mirror should show a point on the ground that is about eight feet away. Check mirror adjustment regularly.
Don’t adjust the mirror while attempting to parallel park. It’s unsafe and the test administrator might fail you for it.
