When or how often does a ” wipe ” occur? Technically, a wipe can occur any time and as often as the developers feel. Historically, a wipe takes place along with the launch of a new “marjor patch” for the game — this can be anywhere from a few months to our current record of six+ months.
What sets Tarkov apart from other titles is the use of wipes to remove progression, weapons, and the advantage that some are able to gain, leveling the playing field and forcing everyone to start from scratch, and after months of speculation and anticipation, Battlestate Games have finally wiped their game for the
Noticed a few posts recently about not getting to end game before each wipe and was just curious how long we normally get? About 3 months is typical.
Wipes take many months. Usually when a big content update is coming, they will announce it as 2 weeks away, wait a month, activate boss Scav to 100% spawn rate for a week or two, then rescind that and drop all trader prices to $1 for about 2 weeks. Then you wait another week or so as they debug it one more time.
Battlestate Games has confirmed that the next Escape from Tarkov wipe will be released on Thursday, December 24, 2020.
Wipes are not planned after full release. This has been said many times before, it will continue to be said. Don’t know why you are getting downvoted, there will not be any.

There’s will be a wipe! It has always been a thing that the Tarkov database be completely emptied and all players have to start over. This annoys some experienced players, but it increases the chances of success for newcomers, as they can hardly keep up with the high-level gear.
It’s a complete reset of everything. Gotcha thanks! It will wipe everything. I personally feel like it shouldn’t reset your hard work on leveling up your stats and level, although, I get it.
There is no sense is killing player scavs (unless they have a ton of gear) just to get mobbed by AI, ultimately you will both end up with nothing. If you hold fire, you might both be able to find some decent loot and extract.
There are some exceptions though. The scav bosses and their guards will often attack player scavs, as will the raiders that can sometimes spawn on Mil Base.
During this test phase the team needs to test the game balance and feel in different states, such as when everybody still low level, mid level, and high level. This needs to repeat every major content patch to make sure nothing was botched, so every so often they wipe clean the game’s database.
